A WORD FROM CHRIS
JACQUELINE is the 4th and final installment in my DC Perspective series. The character is based on Jacqueline Susann, author of “Valley of the Dolls”. That particular book dealt with sex, drugs and abuse within the Hollywood community, and I wanted my story to be somewhat rooted in that world.
The idea behind JACQUELINE is about finding self worth; or- You cannot love someone if you don’t love yourself. And I think that is the perfect message for a character like Wonder Woman to convey. After dealing with the brutality of Batman, the humanity of Superman, and the compassion of the Flash, I wanted Wonder Woman’s “message” to be about love.
In keeping with the overall theme of the series, I chose to breathe new life into the classic Lynda Carter version. Valerie Perez provided the costume and, if I do say so, owned the hell out of the role. Lindsey Bean as Jacqueline was a natural choice. Her subtle nuances in the role made Jacqueline vulnerable, but not weak. She’s the girl next door, your best friend from school, but with a tragic past that breaks your heart to hear.
